Shuangtang Map Poster & Print
Shuangtang lies in northern Jiangsu, on the broad alluvial plain that stretches across this part of eastern China. There is almost no relief to shape the map, so what you see is how people have divided the land: straight roads, rectangular fields and a town centre where the lines crowd together.
The built-up area is compact, with streets that mostly follow the same orientation as the surrounding field boundaries. Drainage ditches and irrigation channels, which are common across this plain, add thin parallel lines to the countryside. Villages appear as small clusters of blocks spread out at regular distances, linked by farm roads that run straight across the landscape.
A Shuangtang map poster is a study in order. With no hills or coastline to interrupt it, the design is built from rhythm and repetition: straight lines, right angles and a slightly denser centre. In black and white it reads almost like a textile, calm and even, with the town as the one place where the pattern tightens.

Compact town core
The town centre is a small, dense cluster of streets that stands out against the open farmland around it, the clear focal point of the drawing.
Channels and ditches
Irrigation and drainage channels cross the fields in thin parallel lines, adding fine detail that is characteristic of farmland on the eastern Chinese plains.
