Shuya Map Poster & Print
Shuya is a town in Ivanovo Oblast, north-east of Moscow, on the Teza River. It is one of the older towns of the region, and its map shows a historic centre near the river, with streets reaching out toward the surrounding countryside. The river curves through the town, and bridges connect the two banks.
Shuya grew as a trading and manufacturing town, and in the nineteenth century textile mills shaped much of its development, as in many towns of the Ivanovo region. The town is also known for its tradition of soap-making. Among its churches, the tall bell tower of the Resurrection Cathedral is a well-known landmark and dominates the skyline.
A Shuya map poster shows the river, the old centre and the looser streets of wooden houses and newer blocks around it. The composition is balanced and gently irregular, with the Teza giving it a clear line. It is a meaningful keepsake for anyone with roots in this part of Russia.
