Svitlovodsk Map Poster & Print
Svitlovodsk is in the Kirovohrad region of central Ukraine, on the bank of the Kremenchuk Reservoir. The town was built in the 1950s together with the Kremenchuk hydroelectric station and its dam on the Dnipro River. On a map, its planned streets line up in neat rows beside a very large body of water.
The reservoir dominates the drawing, taking up far more space than the town itself, and the dam forms a hard straight line across the river. The town's history as a Soviet project shows in its regular layout. Briefly in the early 1960s it even carried the name Khrushchev, before being given its present name, which means roughly 'town of light waters'.
A Svitlovodsk map poster shows the relationship between planned town and engineered landscape. The wide reservoir is shown as open, calm space, and the streets and dam form structured lines along its edge. The result is a strong, simple composition that suits anyone who grew up here or remembers the view across the water.

The dam
The hydroelectric dam cuts a hard straight line across the Dnipro. It is the reason the town exists and its most striking feature on a map.
Planned streets
Regular blocks and avenues reflect the town's 1950s origins. The street layout is ordered and clear compared with older Ukrainian towns.
