Tarch’a Sodo Map Poster & Print
Tarch’a Sodo is the administrative centre of Dawro Zone in south-western Ethiopia. It sits in highland country, where ridges and plateaus are cut by steep valleys draining toward the Omo River. On the map the town follows the high ground. Its main roads run along the ridge, and side streets branch down the slopes where the land allows.
Around the town the landscape is a mosaic of small farms, homesteads, enset gardens and patches of forest, linked by footpaths. The terrain is steep, so roads loop and switch back as they descend toward neighbouring districts. The deep valley of the Omo lies not far to the east and south.
A Tarch’a Sodo map poster shows a young zonal capital in rugged country. The Dawro area is known for its historic defensive stone walls, built centuries ago across the land. In the print, the compact streets of the town sit on their ridge with the valleys falling away around them.

Toward the Omo
Steep valleys around Tarch’a drain toward the Omo River, and the switchbacking roads that descend into them give the map a sense of depth.
Farmed highlands
Small fields, homesteads and patches of trees cover the slopes around town, a fine, scattered texture in the monochrome style.
