Southern Bug loops
The river bends repeatedly through the city, creating islands and headlands between districts. It is the strongest element on the map and gives the composition a natural, flowing structure.

Vinnytsya Map Poster & Print
Vinnytsya sits in west-central Ukraine on the Southern Bug, and the river gives the city its shape. It bends through the centre in broad loops, leaving islands and peninsulas between the districts, and a series of bridges knit the two banks together. The historic centre stands on the higher right bank, with newer residential districts spreading across both sides of the water.
The main axis of the centre is Soborna Street, running along the high ground past churches, former monasteries and civic buildings, not far from the old water tower that has become one of the symbols of the city. The street pattern around it is fairly regular, softening into curves where the land drops toward the river. Parks and green banks follow the water through much of the city.
In the river near the centre, a large floating fountain with light and music shows became a popular attraction after it opened in 2011. Outside the city are the remains of Hitler's wartime Werwolf headquarters. A Vinnytsya map poster shows the essentials: a river that refuses to run straight and a city arranged patiently around its turns.

Soborna Street
The central street runs along the high right bank, collecting churches, squares and civic buildings, and reads on the map as the straight spine from which the old centre grows.
River islands
Small islands in the Southern Bug near the centre appear as green shapes between the bridges, and parks along both banks make the river corridor one of the calmest parts of the map.
