Weslaco Map Poster & Print
Weslaco lies in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, a few miles north of the Mexican border. The land is flat and has long been farmed with irrigation, so the map shows a steady grid of streets, highways and straight canals, with fields and orchards surrounding the town on all sides.
The town's name comes from the W. E. Stewart Land Company, which developed the townsite in the early twentieth century. Weslaco is known for agricultural research, and the sweet 1015 onion was developed at the Texas A&M research centre here, a fact local residents often mention with some pride.
A Weslaco map poster reflects the planned character of the valley. Expressway 83 runs through as a strong east–west line, older neighbourhoods follow a tight grid near the rail line, and farm roads continue the pattern outward in a larger scale. Canals add thin, occasional diagonals across the fields.

Irrigation canals
Canals carry water across the flat land to fields and orchards, drawing thin lines that sometimes run at angles to the regular street grid.
Farm road grid
Beyond the town, section roads divide farmland into large squares, extending the geometry of the streets out into the countryside.
