Winchester Map Poster & Print
Winchester sits at the northern end of the Shenandoah Valley, often described as the oldest city west of the Blue Ridge. Its eighteenth-century plan still shapes the centre: a rectangular grid of streets around Loudoun Street, part of which is now a brick pedestrian mall lined with historic buildings.
The city's past runs deep. A young George Washington kept a surveying and military office here, and during the Civil War Winchester changed hands between Union and Confederate forces many times. It is also the hometown of the singer Patsy Cline, and every spring it hosts the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.
A Winchester map poster frames the orderly downtown grid inside a wider web of roads. Interstate 81 and the bypasses sweep around the city in long curves, residential neighbourhoods fill the space between them, and the edges fade into the rural roads of apple country.

Colonial grid
Downtown streets meet at right angles in a compact rectangle, a clear eighteenth-century plan that contrasts with the curving suburban roads around it.
Interstate curve
Interstate 81 passes along the eastern side of the city in a long, smooth arc, the boldest line on the print.
