Wonopringgo Map Poster & Print
Wonopringgo lies in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java, inland from the city of Pekalongan on the island's north coast. The land here is low and well watered, and on a map the district appears as a mesh of villages linked by narrow roads, set among irrigated rice fields and small streams flowing north toward the Java Sea.
Pekalongan is widely known as a centre of batik, and the craft is part of life in many of the surrounding communities. The settlement pattern is largely loose and linear: houses line the roads in long strings, with gardens and fields behind them, rather than gathering into a single dense centre. From above, the villages read as threads rather than blocks.
A Wonopringgo map poster records that pattern faithfully: the lines of roadside villages, the soft geometry of rice fields and the watercourses running between them. It is a gentle, detailed image of rural Java, one that rewards close looking and holds particular meaning for anyone with family ties to the area.

Rice fields
Irrigated paddies cover much of the land around the villages, shown as a fine pattern of field edges, channels and paths between the settlements.
Streams to the coast
Small rivers and irrigation channels flow north toward Pekalongan and the Java Sea, adding winding lines to the otherwise orderly field pattern.

Many families from Pekalongan Regency now live in larger cities or abroad, and a map of the home district is a simple way to keep it in view. The fine pattern of villages and fields also works as a quiet decorative piece in its own right.
