Valley-shaped town
The built-up area stretches along its valley rather than spreading outward, creating a long, narrow figure that gives the map a strong sense of direction.

Yingpan Map Poster & Print
Yingpan is in the mountain country of northwest Yunnan, a region of steep ridges and deep river valleys running roughly north to south. In landscapes like this, the map is shaped more by terrain than by planning: flat ground is scarce, so streets, houses and fields gather wherever the valley floor or a gentle slope allows.
From above, the town forms an elongated shape, following the line of its valley and the road that runs through it. Buildings line the main route closely, with short side lanes climbing a little way up the slopes before stopping. Beyond that, the map falls quiet, suggesting the mountainsides that rise steeply on either side.
A Yingpan map poster conveys the feeling of a place built in a narrow space. The wider region is known for its parallel great rivers and for the many ethnic communities who live in these mountains, and even a small town here shows how people make room for everyday life in a vertical landscape.

One main road
A principal road threads through the town and continues up and down the valley, acting as the spine to which nearly every street and lane connects.
Space for mountains
Large unbuilt areas on either side of the town stand in for steep slopes, leaving the composition open and letting the narrow settlement stand out clearly.
