Huron River corridor
The river cuts diagonally across the city, lined with parkland and crossed by several bridges. It is the strongest single line in the composition and separates the historic districts.

Ypsilanti Map Poster & Print
Ypsilanti lies in southeastern Michigan, just east of Ann Arbor. The Huron River runs through it from northwest to southeast. From above, that curve of river separates the downtown grid from Depot Town, the historic district that grew up around the railway. Parks and green strips follow much of the water.
The city is named after Demetrios Ypsilantis, a hero of the Greek War of Independence. Its best-known landmark is the stone Water Tower, which stands at the edge of the Eastern Michigan University campus. On a map, the campus shows up as a looser pattern of buildings, paths and playing fields west of downtown.
A Ypsilanti map poster keeps all of this readable at once. You can see the river's bends, the rail line crossing near Depot Town, the tight blocks downtown and the residential streets that spread toward the townships and Ann Arbor.

Depot Town
This historic district grew up where the railway meets the river's east bank. On the map it appears as a small, dense cluster of short blocks beside the tracks.
Eastern Michigan campus
West of downtown, the university's open grounds, curving walkways and athletic fields break the street grid. They add softer shapes and lighter areas to the print.
