Centre around the church
Streets converge on a compact core where the church and main square sit. On the poster this reads as the densest knot of lines and becomes the natural focal point of the design.

Zele Map Poster & Print
Zele lies in East Flanders, roughly midway between Ghent and Antwerp, in the low, open country of the Scheldt basin. From above it has the pattern typical of the region: a compact centre around the church and market square, and long roads leading outward, lined with houses that thin gradually into fields. The town and its outlying hamlets read as a web rather than a single block.
That pattern of ribbon development gives the map its structure. Straight and gently curving roads reach out like spokes, and between them lie rectangular plots of farmland, drainage ditches and small patches of woodland. It is a landscape shaped by centuries of agriculture, and the lines on the map follow old field boundaries as much as any modern plan.
Zele is small enough to take in at a glance, yet its outline is far from simple. A Zele map poster turns that network into a clean drawing, with the centre as a dense knot of streets and the connecting lanes reaching out toward neighbouring villages, isolated farms and the wider Flemish plain beyond.

Ribbon roads
Houses line the roads leading out of town, forming long threads through the farmland. These ribbons are characteristic of Flanders and give the map its branching, tree-like shape.
Field pattern
Between the roads, the flat land is divided into regular plots and ditches. Their fine rectangular rhythm fills the background and keeps the composition calm and balanced.
