Aalsmeer Map Poster & Print
Aalsmeer is a town in North Holland, just southwest of Amsterdam, known worldwide for its flower trade. On a map its most striking feature is the Westeinderplassen, a large lake area on its southern and western side. The lakes are broken up by islands, narrow strips of land and old peat-cutting patterns. The town itself follows the lake shore in a long, linear form.
In the north of the municipality stands the Aalsmeer flower auction, run by Royal FloraHolland. Its building has one of the largest footprints in the world, and huge volumes of cut flowers and plants pass through it every day. Schiphol Airport lies directly to the north, and one of its runways, the Aalsmeerbaan, is named after the town.
An Aalsmeer map poster combines water, land and industry in a single frame. The lakes appear as broad open shapes laced with thin islands, and the town stretches along their edge. To the north, the enormous rectangle of the auction complex sits among the roads. It is a distinctly Dutch landscape, shaped by peat, water and trade.

Flower auction
The auction building in the north is vast. Its huge rectangular footprint stands out immediately among the surrounding roads and business parks.
Linear lakeside town
Aalsmeer stretches along the lake shore instead of forming a round centre, a long ribbon of streets between the water and the polder.

Zakaj Aalsmeer
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Aalsmeer speaks to people in the flower trade, to sailors who know the Westeinderplassen and to anyone who grew up with planes overhead. The mix of lakes and streets makes it one of the more intricate Dutch maps to hang.
Set the title and subtitle as you like, perhaps adding a year or a family business name, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Noir bring out the lakes.
