Homestead pattern
Short lanes branch off the main roads to individual houses and gardens. On the poster this creates a fine, evenly spread texture rather than a dense town centre.

Alengād Map Poster & Print
Alengād is another spelling of the Ernakulam district locality also written Alangad, in the low river country between Aluva and North Paravur. The name appears in several forms in records and on signs, and families from the area use whichever feels familiar. On a map the place looks less like a town than a continuous, lived-in landscape.
Kerala's traditional pattern is the homestead: a house set in its own garden plot rather than in rows of terraced buildings. Seen from above, this produces an even scatter of small roads branching into short lanes and driveways, with no single dense core. The main roads linking the larger towns stand out as longer, firmer lines within the pattern.
Rivers and canals connected to the Periyar cut across the area, and roads bend to avoid them or cross on small bridges. An Alengād map poster turns this texture into an image: a dense, branching network of lanes held between curving water, recognisable to anyone who has driven these roads home.

Connecting roads
Longer roads link the area with Aluva, North Paravur and the wider Kochi region. They are the firmer lines that give the drawing its overall structure.
River edges
Waterways linked to the Periyar interrupt the network with smooth curves. Roads run alongside them or bend around them, giving the map its gentle, flowing outline.

Zakaj Alengād
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Place names in Kerala often have more than one spelling, and the one a family uses carries its own meaning. A poster titled Alengād keeps that exact form on the wall, together with the roads and waters around the family home.
You can set the title and subtitle freely, in any spelling, and add a date or a house name. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9, or order a printed matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
