Central town grid

Andorinha Map Poster & Print
Andorinha is a small municipality in the north of Bahia, in the semi-arid interior Brazilians call the sertão. Its name is Portuguese for swallow. From above, the town is a tight cluster: a handful of streets around a central square, low blocks of houses, and roads that leave in several directions and quickly thin into rural tracks. Around it is a wide, lightly settled landscape.
The region is best known for mining. Chromite has been extracted in this part of Bahia for decades, and the municipality is linked to that industry. On a street map, though, the town itself stays modest and legible. The ratio of built area to empty space is what gives the drawing its character: a small dense knot surrounded by a great deal of paper.
An Andorinha map poster works best when that contrast is left alone. The urban core reads as fine, close linework, while the roads reaching into the countryside become single lines crossing blank ground. It is a quiet composition, closer to a sketch than a diagram, and it suits someone who knows exactly which of those lines leads home.

Roads into the sertão
Routes leave the town and continue across open semi-arid country, drawn as long isolated lines that give the poster its sense of distance and scale.
Open surrounding land
Much of the frame is sparsely settled ground, so the empty space becomes part of the design and makes the town itself stand out sharply.

Zakaj Andorinha
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People who grew up in small interior towns often find that the map says more than a photograph. Andorinha's short streets and open edges make a simple, honest image of a place many left for the cities and still think about.
You can add the family name, a year, or a line in Portuguese as the title and subtitle, adjust the coordinates line, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD file costs $9, or you can order a printed poster.
