Weavers' lanes
Close-set residential streets around the centre, where much of the town's silk weaving has traditionally taken place, form the densest and most intricate part of the drawing.

Arni Map Poster & Print
Arni sits on the flat plains of Tiruvannamalai district in northern Tamil Nadu, a town whose street pattern grew outward from an older core rather than to any single plan. From above, narrow lanes pack tightly around the centre, then loosen into roads that head out toward villages, tanks and farmland. Water tanks and irrigation channels show up as soft, rounded shapes against the tight grain of the streets.
The town is best known across India for Arni silk, woven on handlooms in homes and small workshops throughout the area. Arni also has a long past as a fort town, and the old defensive site still shapes how the centre sits within the wider street network. On paper, that mix of dense residential blocks and open agricultural edges gives the map an unhurried, handmade look.
An Arni map poster turns that pattern into clean black lines on a white ground. The fine web of the old quarters sits against the broader roads leading to the countryside, and the scattered tanks become quiet shapes that balance the composition. Without labels crowding the view, the town reads as a single drawing of how a weaving centre has grown over generations.

Tanks and channels
Irrigation tanks on the edges of town appear as smooth open shapes, a counterweight to the dense street grain and a reminder of the farmland that surrounds Arni.
Roads to the plains
Main roads leave the centre in several directions toward neighbouring towns, giving the map a clear set of spokes that frame the older core.
