Avedøre Map Poster & Print
Avedøre lies on the southwestern edge of Copenhagen, in Hvidovre Municipality, and its map combines two very different areas. Inland is Avedøre Stationsby, a large planned housing development built in the 1970s and 1980s, with its long, continuous blocks arranged in a distinctive pattern. To the east lies Avedøre Holme, land reclaimed from the sea and laid out in straight industrial streets along the coast.
Avedøre Holme is home to Avedøre Power Station, a major combined heat and power plant, and wind turbines stand along its shoreline. The reclaimed land is part of a wider twentieth-century project that turned shallow waters south of Copenhagen into new ground. Nearby, green areas and the Kalveboderne coast provide open space for walking and cycling.
An Avedøre map poster shows how modern planning shaped a whole district: long residential blocks, straight industrial roads and a clean, artificial coastline. It is a striking composition, strongly geometric and quite unlike an older town. For anyone who lives or grew up here, it captures a very recognisable piece of greater Copenhagen with real clarity.

Avedøre Holme
Reclaimed industrial land along the coast is laid out in straight roads and large plots, with the power station and wind turbines at its edge.
Engineered coastline
The shoreline here is largely man-made, with clean, straight edges facing the water, a clear contrast to the more irregular coasts elsewhere around Copenhagen.
