Valley alignment
The streets run along the valley floor, giving the town a stretched outline that follows the shape of the land rather than a planned grid.

Baituo Map Poster & Print
Baituo sits in the southeastern part of Gansu, in country shaped by the Loess Plateau, where soft hills are cut by gullies and river valleys. On a map, settlement tends to follow the valley floors, and the town's streets line up along the flatter ground rather than spreading evenly.
The result is an elongated shape: a main road carrying most of the activity, with side streets and lanes branching off where the terrain allows. Beyond them, field tracks and paths wind along the slopes.
A Baituo map poster turns that pattern into a clean, linear composition. The town reads as a thread of streets within a larger, folded landscape, a very different picture from the grid of a plains city.

Loess country
Around the town, winding tracks trace the slopes and gullies typical of the Loess Plateau, adding fine, irregular lines to the map.
