Luni riverbed
The broad, braided channel of the Luni is the largest natural feature on the map, a wide band that stays mostly dry outside the monsoon months.

Balotra Map Poster & Print
Balotra lies in the arid west of Rajasthan beside the Luni, the main river of the region, which flows only after the rains and for much of the year appears as a broad sandy channel. On a map the town forms a compact, irregular core with newer growth along the highway and railway, surrounded by scrub, fields and open desert land.
Balotra is best known for its textile industry, especially the dyeing and printing of cotton fabrics, which has made it one of the notable cloth centres of western India. The Jain pilgrimage site of Nakoda lies nearby, and the town serves as the market for a wide rural area around it.
A Balotra map poster sets the dense lanes of the old town against the wide empty spaces around it. The river channel adds a strong, soft-edged band to the composition, and the roads leaving town cut long straight lines into the desert. It is a spare, graphic image of a working town.

Textile quarters
Industrial areas for dyeing and printing show as larger plots with straight access roads, set beside the tighter residential lanes of the older town.
Desert edges
Beyond the last streets the land opens into arid plains, and the town's outline is sharp, with little between it and the horizon but roads and fields.
