The river bends
The Chao Phraya loops through the centre in wide curves, giving the map a strong organic spine that contrasts with the straighter roads on either bank.

Bangkok Map Poster & Print
Bangkok lies on the low, flat delta of the Chao Phraya, and on a map the river is unmistakable. It swings through the city in a series of broad S-bends, separating the older eastern bank from Thonburi on the west. Around it the streets form no single grid; instead, neighbourhoods follow the lines of former canals and the long straight roads that replaced them.
The historic core is Rattanakosin Island, an area enclosed by the river on one side and a ring of dug canals on the other. The Grand Palace and Wat Pho sit here, close to the water. Further east, raised expressways and the Skytrain lines draw long, confident strokes across the denser commercial districts.
Bangkok has been the Thai capital since 1782, and its full ceremonial name is often cited as the longest place name in the world. A Bangkok map poster captures the city as a network of water and road laid over a plain, with the river doing most of the drawing.

Rattanakosin Island
The old royal quarter is ringed by the river and by canals dug in the late eighteenth century, forming a compact, clearly bounded island of streets.
Khlong network
Surviving canals, especially on the Thonburi side, thread between neighbourhoods as thin lines of water, a reminder of the time when Bangkok moved mostly by boat.

Zakaj Bangkok
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Bangkok tends to leave a strong impression, whether it was a first long trip, a posting abroad or a home for years. Seen from above, the noise falls away and what remains is the river and the pattern of streets around it, a calmer way to remember a very busy city.
Each poster can carry your own title, a subtitle and a coordinates line, so it can mark an address, a year or simply the city name. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and download HD files or order a matte print.
