Bayan Nur Map Poster & Print
Bayan Nur lies in western Inner Mongolia, on the Hetao plain inside the great northern loop of the Yellow River. Its urban centre, Linhe District, is compact and orderly, with straight roads laid out on flat ground. What makes the area distinctive on a map is the network around it: long irrigation canals and drains that have turned a dry region into farmland.
Irrigation here goes back many centuries, and the Hetao system is one of the largest in China. It draws water from the Yellow River along the southern edge of the prefecture. To the north, the Yin Mountains rise abruptly from the plain, and beyond them the land opens into grassland and desert that stretch towards the border with Mongolia.
A Bayan Nur map poster is less about dense streets and more about geometry: the rectangular city, the ruled lines of the canals and the river's broad channel. It shows a working landscape shaped by water management. The result is a clean, almost diagrammatic print that suits minimalist interiors.

Hetao canals
Straight and gently curving irrigation channels branch across the surrounding farmland. Their fine lines dominate the outer parts of the map and give it a strong, ruled texture.
Yellow River
The river passes south of the city in a wide, braided channel. It supplies the water that made the whole plain suitable for farming.
