Irrigation channels
Canals and ditches carry water through the town and its fields. Streets and houses often line up along them, so the waterways shape the whole layout.

Zemljevid
Bazar-Korgon Map Poster & Print
Bazar-Korgon lies in Jalal-Abad Region of southern Kyrgyzstan, where the foothills descend toward the irrigated plain of the Fergana Valley. From above, it is a broad, low settlement of walled courtyards, orchards and straight lanes. Houses line the roads and irrigation channels rather than gathering in a dense core, so the town fades gradually into the farmland around it.
The town is the centre of a district that stretches north into the mountains and includes the Arslanbob area, known for its large walnut forests. The name combines words for market and fortress, a reminder of its long role as a trading place in the valley. Today it remains an agricultural centre, surrounded by fields that depend on water brought down from the mountains.
A Bazar-Korgon map poster shows a Central Asian farming town at its clearest: a web of lanes and canals, rows of courtyard houses, and the rising ground toward the mountains beyond. The composition is spacious rather than dense. For people from the Fergana Valley, the pattern of streets and water channels is instantly familiar.

Courtyard houses
Most homes are set around private courtyards with gardens and fruit trees. From above, they make a repeating pattern of small enclosed plots along the lanes.
Toward the foothills
North of the town the ground begins to rise toward the mountains of the district. The street network thins out as fields give way to higher, more broken terrain.
