Hilltop street grid
The centre follows the usual Colombian pattern of a plaza with regular blocks around it, but the grid is set on uneven ground and softens at its edges where the terrain turns steep.

Belén de Umbría Map Poster & Print
Belén de Umbría sits high on the western slopes of Colombia's Andes, in the Risaralda Department. From above, the town is a compact block of streets laid along uneven ground. Around it the land is broken into steep folds, and each fold is cut by a stream running down toward larger valleys below.
The municipality lies in coffee country, and the map shows it. Beyond the last urban blocks, the linework loosens into scattered farm tracks and switchback roads that follow the contours of the hills. Where the land drops away, the streets bend to follow it instead of running straight, so the grid gives way to the slope.
A Belén de Umbría map poster keeps that contrast between the tidy centre and the irregular country around it. At a close zoom you see the plaza and the blocks around it. Pull back a little and the town becomes a pale cluster held by ridgelines, stream valleys and roads threading between coffee farms.

Switchback roads
Roads leaving town zigzag down and across the slopes. On a black-and-white print they read as loose, looping lines that contrast with the straight streets of the centre.
Stream-cut valleys
Small streams run through the surrounding hills and carve narrow valleys between the ridges. They set the direction of the farm tracks and give the wider map its folded, layered look.

Zakaj Belén de Umbría
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
For people from Belén de Umbría, or anyone with family in Colombia's coffee country, this map is a way to keep the town's blocks and hillside roads in view far from the Andes. It suits a kitchen, a hallway or a study, and it is a thoughtful gift for relatives who left the region.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, so the poster can carry a family name, a wedding date or the year someone moved away. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, download the HD files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
