Beluru Map Poster & Print
Beluru is a small town in the interior of northern Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, inland from the coastal city of Miri. On a map it looks modest: a compact core of streets at a junction of roads that lead out across broad lowland. That simplicity is a large part of its appeal. There are no crowded districts, only a clear center and the lines that connect it to the wider region.
The countryside around Beluru is largely given over to agriculture, and much of it has been laid out as plantations. On a detailed map, these can show up as access tracks in regular patterns. They contrast with streams that wind naturally through the lowland and with the scattered longhouse settlements and villages that characterize this part of Sarawak.
A Beluru map poster is a personal object rather than a tourist souvenir. It is for people who grew up here, worked in the area or have family in the district. The town's small grid at the center, surrounded by open space and a handful of roads, makes a calm and uncluttered composition. It reads well at every print size.

Radiating roads
A few roads lead out of town toward the coast and neighboring districts. They form the main structure of the map and show how Beluru connects to the rest of Sarawak.
Lowland waterways
Small rivers and streams meander through the surrounding lowland. Their irregular curves offer a natural counterpoint to the straighter lines of roads and estate tracks.
