The Erft valley
The small river Erft and the channels beside it run north through the town. They form a green corridor that the old centre and later districts grew along.

Bergheim Map Poster & Print
Bergheim is the district seat of the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, west of Cologne, and the river Erft runs through it from south to north. On the map the old centre sits in a narrow band along the river valley. Newer residential districts stretch out on both sides, and the villages that joined the town over the years sit apart from each other, separated by open fields.
This part of the Rhineland is known for lignite, and the mining has shaped the land around Bergheim. The Niederaußem power station belongs to one of its districts, and a map of the area shows reshaped ground, embankments and straight service roads next to the older village streets. It is a working landscape, and the lines on the map show that plainly.
A Bergheim map poster reduces all of this to thin black lines. It shows the river corridor, the rail line, the motorway to the north and the scattered settlements between them. Fields show up as empty paper, which makes the pattern of the villages easy to read and gives the town a quiet, clear outline.

Scattered districts
Bergheim is made up of many former villages. On the map they look like separate clusters of streets joined by country roads, with open farmland between them.
Lignite landscape
Around the town, the Rhenish lignite district shows as large, geometric changes to the land. Power station grounds, embankments and straight roads sit next to much older settlements.

Zakaj Bergheim
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People who grew up in the Erft villages, or who worked at the power stations and in the surrounding industry, often want a map that shows the whole cluster together. The poster gives Bergheim a calm, readable shape that is easy to live with on a wall.
You can change the title and subtitle, and the coordinates line can mark a street or a family home. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper and Sand work well for a softer, more rural feel.
