Highway spine
The road west from Tuxtla Gutiérrez runs along the town and sets its main axis, so the densest blocks sit close to this single long line.

Berriozábal Map Poster & Print
Berriozábal sits in the central highlands of Chiapas, a short distance west of the state capital, Tuxtla Gutiérrez. It is the seat of the municipality of the same name, and much of its daily life follows the highway that links the capital with towns further west. From above, the town is small and orderly, and hilly country presses in on it from several sides.
The centre follows the familiar Mexican pattern: a regular grid of blocks around a main square, with the main church and municipal buildings close by. Toward the edges the grid loosens. Streets bend to follow the ground, newer housing spreads along the approach roads, and the built-up area gives way to farmland and wooded slopes.
A Berriozábal map poster captures that contrast between a tidy colonial-style core and the uneven ground around it. The highway cuts across the composition as a firm diagonal, and the smaller streets settle into rectangles beside it. Printed in a single ink, the town looks like what it is: a crossroads settlement at the edge of a much larger landscape.

Central grid
Around the main square the streets form a regular grid of near-square blocks. The pattern shows up clearly on the map and anchors the whole composition.
Hill country edges
Beyond the last streets the terrain rises and folds. The town's edges are irregular because roads and houses follow the ground instead of a plan.
