Old weaving town
The historic centre is a dense network of narrow lanes lined with homes and powerloom workshops. It prints as the darkest and most detailed part of the map.

Bhiwandi Map Poster & Print
Bhiwandi lies in Thane district, northeast of Mumbai and close to the Thane creek and the Ulhas river system. For decades it has been known as one of India's largest centres for powerloom weaving, with thousands of small workshops producing cloth. The older town is densely built, and from above its lanes form a close, irregular web.
In recent years Bhiwandi has also become a major warehousing and logistics hub for the Mumbai region. Large distribution sheds spread across the surrounding land, and on a map they appear as big, regular rectangles very different in scale from the small plots of the old town. Access roads and highway links tie these areas to the wider metropolitan network.
Around the edges of the built-up area, low hills, fields and creeks remain, though the boundary keeps moving. A Bhiwandi map poster captures a town in two scales at once: the fine grain of workshop streets in the centre and the broad blocks of logistics parks growing around it.

Warehouse belt
Large rectangular warehouse complexes surround the town, forming a pattern of broad, orderly blocks. Their scale contrasts sharply with the tight streets of the older centre.
Highway links
Major roads connect Bhiwandi with Thane, Mumbai and routes inland. On the poster they read as long confident lines cutting across the surrounding fields and hills.
