Cẩm Phả Map Poster & Print
Cẩm Phả stretches along the coast of Quảng Ninh province in northeastern Vietnam, east of Hạ Long. The city is long and narrow: hills rise steeply behind it, and the sea with its scattered limestone islands lies in front. On a map the urban area forms a thin band of streets following the main coastal road, broken in places by hills that reach down to the water.
It is one of the main centres of Vietnam's coal industry, with large open-pit and underground mines in the hills and coal ports along the shore. Offshore, the islands of Bái Tử Long Bay continue the seascape of neighbouring Hạ Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so the city looks out over the same kind of limestone karst scenery.
A Cẩm Phả map poster captures a city pressed between two strong landscapes. Streets run parallel to the shore, the coastline breaks into inlets and harbours, and the islands scatter across open water. The result is a composition with a clear direction and an unusual amount of coastline for a city of its size.

Karst islands
Limestone islands of Bái Tử Long Bay sit offshore, appearing on the map as small irregular shapes scattered across the water.
Mining hills
Behind the city, hills with large mining areas rise steeply, and there the street pattern stops and the landscape takes over.
