Carlos Chagas Map Poster & Print
Carlos Chagas lies in the northeast of Minas Gerais, in the valley of the Mucuri River, where hills give way to wide pastureland. The urban area is small and tightly drawn. A handful of parallel streets and cross streets make up the centre, and the edges thin out quickly into roads and tracks crossing open country.
The town is named after Carlos Chagas, the Brazilian physician from Minas Gerais who in 1909 described the tropical illness now called Chagas disease. That name links a quiet farming municipality to one of the best-known figures in Brazilian medicine.
On a Carlos Chagas map poster the river and the town grid are the main features. The river curves past the settlement, and the regional roads leave it in different directions. Because the built-up area is so compact, the design shows clearly how the town relates to the water and the surrounding land.

A compact centre
The urban core is a small, fairly regular grid. At poster scale each block is easy to read, and you can follow individual streets from one edge to the other.
Open surroundings
Past the last streets, the map turns into a sparse network of rural roads across pasture. This gives the composition plenty of empty space and a calm feel.

Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
For people who grew up in the Mucuri valley or have family there, this is a way to keep the hometown in view from anywhere. The small, orderly grid also looks good as a simple graphic, even for someone who has never been there.
Personalise the title and subtitle, for example with a family name or the year someone left for the city, and adjust the coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room.
