Carol Stream Map Poster & Print
Carol Stream is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, in the western suburbs of Chicago. It was developed in the late 1950s as a planned community and named after the daughter of its developer, Jay Stream, a story that remains part of local identity. The map shows a typical postwar suburb, with few straight lines.
Residential areas are built around winding roads and cul-de-sacs, often grouped around retention ponds and small parks. Larger arterial roads cut through in straight lines, and business and industrial parks fill some of the larger blocks, giving the town a clear division between housing and work areas.
A Carol Stream map poster shows the rhythm of American suburban design with surprising elegance. The loops, crescents and ponds look almost decorative in black and white, while the straight main roads hold the composition together.
