The butte itself
The rock formation that gave the town its name sits just above downtown. It shows as an island of open ground surrounded by streets, and a lit star has been placed on it during the winter holidays for decades.

Castle Rock Map Poster & Print
Castle Rock sits in the high country between Denver and Colorado Springs, and the town takes its name from the butte that rises above its centre. On a map the butte shows up as a tight knot of contour-like streets and open ground. The older blocks sit close to it, while newer neighbourhoods spread across the surrounding ridges in long, looping crescents.
Plum Creek runs roughly north through the town, and Interstate 25 follows it. Together they make a strong line that divides the map into an eastern and a western half. Rail tracks run parallel close by, which is a reminder that Castle Rock began as a stop on the route along the Front Range. It later became known for quarrying rhyolite stone.
As a Castle Rock map poster, the town shows the difference between a compact historic grid and the curving streets of the suburbs. The downtown blocks are small and regular. Beyond them, cul-de-sacs and winding collector roads trace the terrain and leave open space between subdivisions. In black and white, that open space reads as pale ground around the dense core.

Creek and highway
Plum Creek and Interstate 25 run side by side through the town. The pair forms the clearest line on the poster, with the old grid on one side and newer districts spreading out on both.
Ridge-top subdivisions
The outer neighbourhoods follow the hills in loops and crescents rather than straight lines. This gives the edges of the map a flowing texture that contrasts with the compact centre.

Zakaj Castle Rock
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People who grew up under the butte, or who moved here for the view of the Front Range, often want the town's outline on a wall. The poster keeps the rock at the centre of the frame, where most residents would place it anyway.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example a street name or the year you arrived. You can also choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital HD files cost $9 and cover six print sizes.
