Hill-following streets
Streets curve and branch as they follow the rolling terrain, producing an irregular, organic layout that contrasts with the rigid grids of many planned cities.

Catu Map Poster & Print
Catu is a municipality in the state of Bahia, in northeastern Brazil, inland to the north of Salvador. The town grew in gently rolling country, and from above its streets follow the terrain rather than a strict plan, bending along small valleys and climbing low hills. Around the urban area the map opens into farmland, patches of vegetation and rural roads.
The area belongs to the Recôncavo Basin, one of Brazil's historic onshore oil and gas regions, and that work has long sat alongside farming in the local economy. Catu is a working town rather than a resort, and its map shows it: practical roads, a compact centre and neighbourhoods that have grown outward along the main routes.
A Catu map poster captures a place that rarely appears on travel posters. The irregular street pattern, the curve of the main roads and the open land around the town give the design a relaxed, organic feel. It works particularly well in the warmer Paper or Sand styles.

Compact centre
The older core is gathered tightly around the main streets, where the network is at its densest before thinning out into newer residential areas and countryside.
Oil and gas country
Catu lies in the Recôncavo Basin, where onshore oil and gas production has long shaped the local economy, and the town is a junction in Brazil's natural gas pipeline network.
