Chengam Map Poster & Print
Chengam lies in Tiruvannamalai district in northern Tamil Nadu, near the foot of the Javadhu Hills. From above, the town is a compact knot of streets surrounded by farmland, irrigation tanks and scattered hills. Roads converge on the centre from several directions, reflecting its role as a local market town on routes across the region.
The town has a place in colonial history. In 1767, during the First Anglo-Mysore War, the Battle of Chengam was fought near here between British forces and the armies of Hyder Ali and the Nizam of Hyderabad. The hills and passes around the town gave the area strategic importance long before it became a quiet agricultural centre.
A Chengam map poster brings out the contrast between the dense old streets and the open landscape around them. Water tanks appear as smooth shapes among fields, roads fan out toward the hills, and the town itself becomes a concentrated pattern at the heart of the sheet.

Irrigation tanks
Traditional water tanks around the town appear as rounded shapes among the fields, a characteristic feature of the Tamil Nadu countryside.
Javadhu foothills
Hills rise to the west and north, so the settled area gives way to rougher, emptier ground that frames the town on the map.
