Chengxi Map Poster & Print
Chengxi is a town district in eastern Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country of the eastern Sichuan Basin. The name means west of the city, and it describes a district that grew beside an older urban core. The terrain here is rarely level, and ridges and valleys decide where streets can run.
From above, newer roads push through in long, smooth curves, while older lanes follow the natural contours of the ground. Terraced fields and small bodies of water surround the built-up areas and create a patchwork texture that is typical of the Chongqing countryside. Blocks of apartments sit on flatter ground wherever it can be found.
A Chengxi map poster shows how a growing town adapts to challenging topography. Instead of a simple grid, the streets branch and wind, and sharp changes in density show where the hills begin. In black and white, it is an intricate and slightly restless composition that looks good at every size.

New road alignments
Wider modern roads cut long, sweeping curves through the district, contrasting with the finer, older lanes around them.
Terraced surroundings
Farmed terraces and small ponds beyond the built edge give the outer parts of the map a detailed, layered texture.
