Clacton-on-Sea Map Poster & Print
Clacton-on-Sea lies on the Essex coast, facing the North Sea. On a map, the town is defined by its long shoreline. The streets run inland from the seafront in a fairly regular pattern, and the coast forms a clean, gently curving edge along the whole frame. Holland-on-Sea continues to the north-east, and Jaywick lies to the south-west.
The resort was developed from 1871 by the engineer Peter Bruff, and the pier opened the same year. Its planned origins show in the tidy layout near the seafront, where roads lead directly to the promenade and beach. The pier extends into the sea as a single thin line, one of the most recognisable features on the map.
Along the coast stand Martello towers, built in the early nineteenth century to guard against invasion. They are a reminder of the area's history before tourism. A Clacton-on-Sea map poster shows the resort as a whole, with the seafront and pier on one side and neighbourhoods spreading inland. It is a clear, coastal composition.

Seafront promenade
The promenade follows the shore for miles, with gardens and beach huts along the way. It forms a smooth, continuous edge between the town and the sea.
Victorian street plan
The roads near the seafront follow the resort's planned layout, with straight streets running down to the water. Newer districts beyond them are looser.

Zakaj Clacton-on-Sea
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Clacton means summer holidays, family days at the beach and, for many, home. The coastline and pier give the poster a simple, recognisable shape, and even a small print is instantly identifiable.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, for example with a family name or the year of a first visit. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, the last of which suits a seaside theme.
