Contumo Map Poster & Print
Contumo is part of the urban area of Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau, on the low coastal land beside the wide Geba estuary. The terrain is flat, and on the map the neighbourhood appears as a dense spread of small streets and lanes, with larger roads linking it to the rest of the city.
The estuary and its tidal flats shape the wider view. Water and mangrove-lined shores surround much of Bissau, so a map of this area quickly includes the curves of the coastline and the open expanse of the Geba to the south.
Rather than a planned grid, the street pattern here is mostly irregular, the result of gradual growth over time. A Contumo map poster shows that everyday urban fabric: close-knit residential blocks, the main roads that cross them and the estuary nearby.

Dense residential lanes
Narrow streets and small blocks create a fine, irregular pattern, typical of neighbourhoods that grew gradually instead of being laid out in one go.
Links to central Bissau
Main roads connect Contumo to the rest of the capital, showing up as stronger lines that cross the finer texture of the surrounding lanes.
