Dallas Map Poster & Print
Dallas was founded in 1841 by John Neely Bryan near a crossing of the Trinity River. Today the river runs west of downtown within a broad floodway bounded by levees, which appears on the map as a wide open corridor. Downtown itself forms a tight, slightly angled grid, surrounded by freeways and, further out, by the concentric loops that frame the metropolitan area.
The city is closely associated with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 at Dealey Plaza, at the western edge of downtown. Nearby, Reunion Tower rises above the rail yards, and across the Trinity, the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge by Santiago Calatrava spans the floodway. To the north, Klyde Warren Park was built as a deck over a freeway.
A Dallas map poster sets the dense core against the vast, even spread of the surrounding city, with White Rock Lake to the northeast and the network of highways drawing strong curves and straight lines across the flat terrain. It captures the scale of a Texas city that grew in every direction from a single river crossing.

Freeway loops
Highways encircle downtown and, further out, the wider city. Their strong curves and interchanges give the Dallas map its bold, sweeping structure.
White Rock Lake
This lake northeast of downtown forms one of the largest open shapes within the city, its irregular outline softened by the surrounding park.
