Dammer Berge
The wooded hills near the town show as a wide area with few roads, a calm counterweight to the denser streets of the centre.

Damme Map Poster & Print
Damme lies in the Vechta district of Lower Saxony, in a part of northern Germany that is usually flat. Here, though, the ground rises into the Dammer Berge, a low range of wooded hills that shapes the town's surroundings. On a map, the forested slopes show as broad open areas on one side, and the town's streets spread across the gentler ground.
The town is well known in the region for its carnival, often described as the largest in northern Germany. That is unusual for an area far from the Rhineland traditions. The Dümmer, one of Lower Saxony's larger lakes, lies not far to the south-east, in open moor and meadow country.
A Damme map poster captures the contrast between the compact old centre, the newer residential areas and the empty, wooded hills. Farm roads cross the surrounding fields in long straight lines, giving the edges of the design a quiet, ordered structure.

Historic centre
The old core around the church forms the tightest cluster of streets, from which residential districts extend in several directions.
Agricultural grid
Long, straight farm roads divide the surrounding land into large parcels, typical of the Oldenburger Münsterland, and frame the town on the poster.
