Tracks, not grids
The street pattern follows everyday use rather than survey lines. Paths curve around compounds and fields, giving the map an organic texture that reads clearly in fine black strokes.

Déressia Map Poster & Print
Déressia sits in the Tandjilé region of southern Chad, in the flat, open country between the dry north and the wetter south. From above it does not read as a grid. Streets arrive as tracks, bend around compounds and fields, and fade into farmland at the edges, so the town appears as a soft cluster rather than a hard-edged block of streets.
That looseness is what makes the plan interesting in black and white. Wider roads give the town a faint spine, while narrower lanes branch off at irregular angles and stop where cultivation begins. The line weights shift gently from centre to edge, and the paper around the settlement stays mostly empty, which says as much about the surrounding landscape as the streets themselves do.
A Déressia map poster is a quiet object: a town of around fifty thousand people, shown without labels competing for attention. For anyone with family ties to Tandjilé, or who has lived and worked in southern Chad, it keeps the outline of the town close at hand, drawn with the same care usually reserved for far larger and better-known cities.

Open edges
Instead of a sharp town limit, the built-up area thins gradually into cultivated land, so the poster shows a centre that slowly dissolves outward across the plain.
Level savanna setting
Southern Chad is broad, level country. With little relief to interrupt it, the drawing stays calm and even, letting the pattern of roads and lanes carry the whole composition.

Zakaj Déressia
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People hang a map of Déressia because it is home, or was for a while, and because few objects anywhere show its shape at all. A drawing of its streets feels personal without being sentimental, and it sits comfortably in a living room, a hallway or an office far from Chad.
Set your own title and subtitle, adjust the coordinates line or add a date that matters to you, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9 and cover six print sizes, or you can order a printed poster, framed if you prefer.
