Ganges riverbank
The river runs along the northern edge of town, broad and divided by islands and sandbars. It turns the top of the map into a wide, sweeping shape.

Dinapore Map Poster & Print
Dinapore, now usually written Danapur, lies on the southern bank of the Ganges just west of Patna, the capital of Bihar. The town has largely merged with the larger city, and on the map it forms the western end of a long urban strip that follows the river. The Ganges here is wide and braided, with sandbars and shifting channels that change with the seasons.
Danapur is best known for its cantonment, established by the British in the eighteenth century and among the oldest military stations in India. It is also the headquarters of a railway division of East Central Railway, and Danapur station is a major stop for trains serving Patna. The mix of military, railway and residential areas gives the town an unusually varied layout.
A Dinapore map poster sets the town against the enormous presence of the river. The Ganges fills the northern side of the composition, the cantonment's ordered roads and open grounds contrast with tighter lanes elsewhere, and rail lines cut through toward Patna. It is a map of edges and layers, with the river always setting the scale.

Cantonment grounds
The military area is laid out with straight roads, parade grounds and large plots, giving part of the map a spacious, orderly pattern unlike the denser streets nearby.
Railway lines
Tracks run east toward Patna and west across Bihar, with the station and yards forming a distinct band of parallel lines through the town.

Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
