Mountain edge
Streets end abruptly against the San Gabriel foothills, where canyon roads and open slopes replace the grid, creating a clear boundary across the top of the map.

Duarte Map Poster & Print
Duarte occupies a narrow slice of the San Gabriel Valley at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, and on a map the difference between flat and steep is immediate. The street grid runs cleanly up to the northern edge, then stops where the terrain climbs sharply into canyons and ridges. To the east, the river wash leaves a wide, largely unbuilt band.
Huntington Drive, part of the historic Route 66 alignment, crosses the city from west to east, and the Foothill Freeway runs roughly parallel to it. The Metro light rail line follows the same corridor, with a station serving the city and the City of Hope medical campus. Together they form a bundle of horizontal lines across the middle of the poster.
City of Hope, the cancer research and treatment centre founded here in the early twentieth century, is Duarte's best-known institution, and its campus appears as a large block within the residential grid. A Duarte map poster pairs that grid with the mountains above it, a combination that says a lot about living on the edge of Los Angeles County.

City of Hope campus

Zakaj Duarte
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Duarte is a small city that many people know through a single experience, whether a hospital stay, a job at the research centre or a childhood on the foothill streets. A map can hold that memory quietly. Change the title, add a date as the subtitle and keep or edit the coordinates line.
The contrast between grid and mountain works strongly in Noir, while Blueprint suits the city's engineered freeways and rail lines. Classic black and white, Paper and Sand are also available. Download HD files for $9, including 18×24″ and 24×36″ sizes, or order a framed or unframed print.
