Historic centre
The old town's close-set, slightly curving streets contrast sharply with the more regular blocks around them. You can still read the outline of the medieval town in the plan.

Euskirchen Map Poster & Print
Euskirchen lies south-west of Cologne, where the flat Rhineland plain begins to lift toward the Eifel hills. The small Erft river and its tributary streams pass the town. On a map, the old centre shows up as a tight knot of irregular streets. Wider roads and newer residential districts spread around it, filling the open farmland in every direction.
The town is the seat of its district and a local rail hub. Several lines meet here, and their tracks cut long, clean arcs across the street pattern. Traces of the medieval layout survive in the curve of the inner streets. Around the centre, the grid loosens into post-war housing, industrial estates and fields that run up to the edge of the built-up area.
A Euskirchen map poster captures that layering: a dense historic heart, the calm lines of the Erft valley, and the railways that tie the town to Cologne, Bonn and the Eifel. The Erft valley was among the areas hit hard by the 2021 floods in western Germany. That gives the river an added weight for many people who live here.

Erft and its streams
Thin watercourses run past the town and through the surrounding farmland. They add fine, meandering lines that soften the geometry of roads and rail.
Rail junction
Several railway lines converge on Euskirchen. Their long curves sweep through the districts and give the map a clear sense of direction toward Cologne, Bonn and the Eifel.
