Red River loops
The river winds north in tight curves along the city's eastern edge, forming the state line with Minnesota. It is the only irregular line on the map.

Fargo Map Poster & Print
Fargo sits on the west bank of the Red River of the North, with Moorhead, Minnesota, directly across the water. The land is exceptionally flat, the floor of the ancient glacial Lake Agassiz. The map shows it clearly: an almost perfect street grid running in every direction, broken only by the curves of the river and the lines of railways and interstates.
The Red River is the one irregular element. It winds north in tight loops, marking the state line, and flooding along it has been a recurring problem for the city. Downtown sits close to the river, near the railway. North Dakota State University occupies a large campus to the north-west, and newer suburbs keep the grid going south across the prairie.
Many people know the name from the Coen brothers' film, though most of it was shot elsewhere. A Fargo map poster shows the real city: a strict grid with no hills or coastline to interrupt it, and a meandering river as its only curve. In black and white that contrast is its whole appeal.

Prairie grid
Streets run in an almost perfect grid across the flat former lake bed. The result is one of the most regular urban patterns in the Midwest.
Twin cities
Moorhead mirrors Fargo on the Minnesota side of the river. Bridges connect the two grids across the water.

Zakaj Fargo
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Fargo suits people who like order: a clean grid, a single river and nothing extra. It is also a natural gift for NDSU graduates and anyone who grew up on the prairie. Add a personal title, a year or a street to the subtitle.
The grid looks crisp in Blueprint and bold in Noir. Classic black and white, Paper and Sand are also available. Print sizes include 18×24″ and 24×36″ as well as metric formats, as downloads or printed posters with an optional frame.
