Dense old core
The centre of Farshūţ is a closely packed network of narrow, irregular lanes, typical of Upper Egyptian towns. It is the darkest and most detailed area of the poster.

Farshūţ Map Poster & Print
Farshūţ lies in Qena Governorate in Upper Egypt, where the Nile makes its great bend and the cultivated valley forms a green band between two deserts. From above the town is a compact mass of closely built streets, surrounded on most sides by a patchwork of fields divided by irrigation channels. Beyond them the valley ends where the desert begins, a line that is unmistakable on any map.
Like many Nile valley towns, Farshūţ grew densely rather than outward, because the irrigated land around it is too valuable to build on. Its lanes are narrow and irregular, and they tighten toward the older core. Roads and canals leading away from the town tend to run straight along field boundaries. The settlement therefore appears as a knot of fine detail inside a more regular agricultural frame.
A Farshūţ map poster gives that contrast a clear graphic form: the intricate town in dense black line, the long straight canals and tracks across the fields, and the plain surface of the desert beyond. It makes a considered gift for people from the governorate living elsewhere. For anyone interested in how the Nile shapes settlement, it is a quietly striking image.

Irrigation canals
Straight canals and drains cut through the farmland around the town, dividing the fields into long parcels. They give the surrounding map a quiet, ruled rhythm.
Valley and desert edge
The Nile's cultivated strip is narrow here, and the change from fields to open desert creates a strong boundary. It frames the town within its agricultural setting.
