Station district
Streets gather around the Jōban Line station, where the densest blocks of the town sit and the road network tightens before loosening again toward fields and housing at the edges.

Funaishikawa Map Poster & Print
Funaishikawa sits on the Pacific side of Ibaraki Prefecture, a short distance north of Mito and Hitachinaka. On a map it reads as a quiet, even pattern: homes and small blocks gathered around a railway station, minor roads branching out into farmland, and a coastline that runs almost straight toward the north. The plan has little drama, and that restraint is exactly what makes it pleasant to look at in black and white.
The town forms the centre of Tōkai village, known across Japan for its nuclear research institutions. Their large sites near the shore show up as broad, simply outlined parcels with their own internal roads. Inland the pattern loosens into irregular field boundaries, clusters of houses and narrow lanes that follow older property lines rather than any single planned grid.
A Funaishikawa map poster works best at a scale that keeps both the station district and the coast in the frame. The contrast between the tidy streets near the tracks and the long, uninterrupted edge of the sea gives the print its structure. The surrounding farmland adds a soft texture without crowding the composition, so the result stays calm and legible at every size.

Pacific shoreline
To the east the land ends in a long, gently curving coast with few inlets, a single clean line that frames the whole poster and sets off the finer street pattern.
Research campuses
Large research sites near the coast appear as wide, calm blocks crossed by internal roads, a distinctive texture that sets this part of Ibaraki apart from an ordinary suburban town.

Zakaj Funaishikawa
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People who grew up here, or who spent a few years working at one of the research institutes, often want something quieter than a photograph to remember it by. A map keeps the familiar walk to the station and the road down to the sea without needing a landmark in the frame.
You can set your own title, a subtitle such as a year or a family name, and the coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital download includes six sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF.
