Prairie street grid
Streets follow a strict north–south and east–west grid across flat ground. The result is a clean, rhythmic pattern of blocks that reads clearly at any poster size.

Garden City Map Poster & Print
Garden City sits on the north bank of the Arkansas River in southwest Kansas, on the level High Plains. From above it is a textbook American grid: straight streets, square blocks and long arterial roads running to the horizon. The river, often only a thin channel here, crosses the southern edge of town with a band of trees, and a rail line runs through the city.
Beyond the city limits, the farmland is among the most graphic in American agriculture. Center-pivot irrigation leaves circular fields set inside the square survey grid, a pattern easy to recognise from the air. Meatpacking and farming have made Garden City an unusually diverse community, home to families from Latin America, Asia and Africa.
Garden City also appears in In Cold Blood, Truman Capote's account of the 1959 murders in nearby Holcomb; the investigation was run from here. The Lee Richardson Zoo is a favourite local landmark. A Garden City map poster keeps the essentials: the grid, the river, the rails and the wide plains.

Arkansas River
The Arkansas River crosses the southern edge of town, usually a narrow channel lined with trees. It forms the one natural curve in an otherwise geometric plan.
Lee Richardson Zoo
The zoo and its surrounding park form one of the larger green spaces on the map. They offer a pause in the grid and are a favourite local destination.
