The Moder in town
The river threads through the historic centre in a series of curves and branches, dividing the old town into distinct islands of blocks and giving the core its irregular outline.

Haguenau Map Poster & Print
Haguenau lies in northern Alsace, on the Moder River, and its map is shaped by two things: the tight medieval core and the enormous forest that begins just beyond the town. The old centre forms a dense oval of narrow streets, with the river looping through it, while broad boulevards trace the line of the former fortifications around the edge.
In the twelfth century the town was a favoured residence of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, who built an imperial palace here, and Haguenau later led the Decapolis, the league of ten free imperial cities of Alsace. Little of the palace survives, but the shape of a fortified town is still legible in the street plan.
To the north and east stretches the Forest of Haguenau, one of the largest forests in France, which on a map appears as a broad empty field crossed by straight forest roads. A Haguenau map poster places the crowded historic core against that open expanse, a contrast that makes the town unusually clear from above.

Ring of boulevards
Wide roads mark where the town walls once stood, drawing a near-complete loop around the old centre and separating it cleanly from later residential districts.
Forest of Haguenau
The great forest north and east of town is crossed by long, straight rides and paths, a calm geometric pattern that fills much of the frame and emphasises the town's compact shape.

Zakaj Haguenau
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Haguenau appeals to people who value the layered quality of Alsatian towns, where a medieval street plan still sits inside a ring of later growth. On a wall it reads as both a place and a well-balanced graphic composition.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a wedding, a move or a family connection to Alsace. The map comes in five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, so it can sit comfortably in very different interiors.
