Hailākāndi Map Poster & Print
Hailākāndi lies in the southern part of Assam, in the Barak Valley, close to the border with Mizoram. On a map, the town forms a compact cluster of streets and markets, with roads leading out across a flat, green landscape cut by streams and small ponds. Settlements string along the roads, so the urban area blends gradually into villages and fields.
Tea is a defining feature of the district, and estates spread across the gentle hills around the town, their neat outlines and access tracks visible from above. Rivers flow north through the valley toward the Barak, shaping the course of roads and the placement of homes on slightly higher ground. The terrain rises toward the south, where forested hills mark the approach to Mizoram.
A Hailākāndi map poster is a quiet reminder of home for families of the Barak Valley, many of whom now live in Guwahati, Kolkata or further afield. The drawing combines the dense knot of the town centre with the looser pattern of villages and waterways, a map that feels lived in rather than planned.
