The rail spine
The railway runs straight through the town and explains its layout. The older downtown blocks line up along it, giving the centre of the map a clear axis to build around.

Haines City Map Poster & Print
Haines City sits in Polk County in the lake country of Central Florida. On a map it reads as a compact grid of streets around a small downtown, with irregular lake shapes pressed against the edges. The blocks loosen and curve as they move outward into newer subdivisions, and the pattern of water keeps breaking up an otherwise orderly street layout.
The town grew because of the railroad. It was first known as Clay Cut, and it is widely said to have been renamed in honour of a South Florida Railroad official so that trains would stop there. The rail line still runs through the centre. From above it is one long straight stroke with the older streets lined up along it and the town fanning out on either side.
A Haines City map poster captures that mix of rail-town geometry and Florida water. In black and white the lakes become clean pale shapes. The main roads show up as heavier lines leading north toward the Orlando area and south across the ridge. The result is a quiet, balanced composition that still reads clearly as this particular corner of the state.

Lakes at the edges
Lake shapes of different sizes sit around and within the town. They interrupt the street grid and add open negative space to the composition, which works especially well in the lighter styles.
Grid into subdivisions
The regular downtown blocks give way to curving residential streets and cul-de-sacs further out. That shift between two planning eras gives the poster texture from the centre to the margins.
