Ring road frame
Kuwait's numbered ring roads run across the area in long, measured curves. They divide the dense residential grid into clear bands that give the poster its main structure.

Ḩawallī Map Poster & Print
Ḩawallī is a city of blocks. It sits just south of central Kuwait City, and from above it reads as a tightly packed field of short, regular streets divided into numbered districts, with larger roads running between them. There is little open ground. Buildings press close to the road edges, and the map fills almost entirely with fine, even lines.
Kuwait's system of ring roads and radial motorways gives the area its structure. These wide, straight routes were laid out as the capital expanded in the second half of the twentieth century, and they cut across and around Ḩawallī, giving the dense fabric firm borders. The city also gives its name to the governorate, one of the most densely populated parts of the country.
The Gulf lies close by, where neighbouring districts meet the sea. A Ḩawallī map poster shows the contrast between the crowded inland grid and the calm edge of the water beyond it. In black and white the street pattern becomes an even, almost woven texture, which suits people who know these streets by their block numbers rather than their names.

Numbered blocks
Streets are grouped into compact blocks with a regular, repeated rhythm. On the map this becomes an even texture that fills almost every part of the frame.
Radial motorways
Straight highways run outward from the capital, crossing the ring roads at large interchanges and cutting through Ḩawallī in firm, confident lines.
