Hoshiārpur sits where the flat, farmed plain of Punjab begins to tilt toward the Shivalik hills. From above, the city appears as a dense core of narrow lanes and closely packed blocks. Newer residential colonies, institutional grounds and roads leading out toward neighbouring towns loosen its margins.
